Bring the whole family and a big appetite for the 6th annual BBQ, Boogie, and Blues Festival. The festival will be held in Downtown Calhoun on Friday and Saturday, April 28th and 29th, 2017. In addition to the event hosting dozens of professional teams for a nationally-sanctioned BBQ competition, there are many activities in store that are sure to provide fun for adults and kids alike.
BBQ, Boogie, and Blues is a locally sponsored event and free for all ages. As if mouth-watering ‘que wasn’t alluring enough, the festival will also have arts and crafts vendors, a backyard grilling competition, and a car show. Let the kids play in the “kid zone,” complete with inflatables and face-painting. For the over 21 crowd, there will be a beer and wine garden selling a variety of spirits. There will also be many food vendors on site including some of the contest participants. Friday night, country-rock outfit The Kurt Thomas Band will take the stage and the Fly Betty Band will close out the festival on Saturday with some classic party hits.
On Saturday, guests can pay $10 to sample and vote for their favorite competitors’ BBQ in the People’s Choice contest.
If you’re looking for additional entertainment, head down to Wall Street to the Harris Arts Center where the Georgia String Band Festival will be taking place in conjunction with BB&B. This is an all ages event, as well. Admission is only $10 to hear some of the best bluegrass music Georgia has to offer. Kids under 12 get in for free.
Gordon Co. CVB Director Sarah Husser suggests downloading the Downtown Calhoun app to get additional information on the area, shopping, dining, and lodging.
