Free Trees for Arbor Day

In celebration of Arbor Day, the Calhoun Beautification Committee will be giving away trees this Saturday, February 17 starting at 10 a.m. at the Northwest Georgia Livestock Pavilion.

Provided by the Georgia Forestry Commission, the seedlings that will be available include: 500 Virginia Pine, 500 Persimmon, 500 Northern Red Oak, 1000 Dogwood, 750 Catalpa, 40 Willow Oak, 500 White Oak, 1000 Redbud, and 250 Gobbler Sawtooth Oak. Arrive early!

Arbor Day is a holiday observed in many countries in which individuals and groups are encouraged to plant trees. The first Arbor Day in America was recognized in Nebraska April 1872.
